Volunteers of America Carolinas' program at Willow Pond, in Wilmington, North Carolina, offers transitional housing for families with children who have suffered the trauma of domestic abuse.
What is Willow Pond? Willow Pond is a program committed to providing decent, safe, and affordable transitional housing and supportive services for families with children who have fled their homes because of domestic violence. Residents receive group and individual counseling; assistance with obtaining necessities such as; food, clothing, school and household supplies; direction in educational, employment, and future housing needs.
Who is served? VOA Willow Pond provides services to homeless, single-parent families who have fled their homes due to domestic violence.
What is the program mission? VOA Willow Pond's goal is to provide residents with the tools necessary to move toward the goal of self-sufficiency and permanent housing. We believe that the first step to healing is to focus on an individual as a whole person: mind, body and spirit. As our founder Ballington Booth said, "It is only through the fulfillment of the needs of the individual that the spiritual advances of mankind can go forward."
What are the ways you can help the residents of Willow Pond? VOA Willow Pond has a variety of needs that include items for the home, clothing and toys as well as a need for volunteers from the community.
