BECOME A VOLUNTEER

Last year hundreds of volunteers were involved in Volunteers of America Carolinas programs.  Our programs are very diverse from one community to the next and so are our volunteer opportunities.  A few examples of where volunteers are working are in our housing facilities for disabled, the elderly, and families providing activities, meals, parties and other services.  Some work at our children and day care centers assisting the teachers and staff with the children, while others are working with offenders as they transition from prison back into our communities.  Volunteer groups from businesses, faith communities, schools and other groups work throughout our programs as well as individual volunteers.  Some of our volunteers prefer short-term projects while others work weekly or monthly helping others.

Right now, we do not have any volunteer opportunities available. Visit http://www.volunteermatch.org or http://www.serve.gov to find other ways to volunteer.

BECOME AN ADVOCATE

There is another way to "get involved" — through advocacy on behalf of the people who live in Volunteers of America Carolinas housing and are assisted in our human services programs.  The best way to influence federal, state, or local policy is to contact legislators and other government officials.  Volunteers of America Carolinas can help you reach your elected officials, to ask for their support of laws and policies that will help us provide housing, health care, and human services for people who cannot afford to provide those things for themselves.
